6 Volvo Accessories to Make Your Volvo More Unique!
Posted by Max R on 6th Aug 2021
As a Volvo owner, I’d be willing to bet that a part of the reason why you purchased your Volvo is because of it’s unique characteristics. Now what if I told you that there were OEM accessories that you can still find today to compliment your Volvo and make it different than the rest? Below you’ll find a list of some of the most unique, no-longer-available Volvo accessories!
850 T-5R Watch
The first on this list, and a must have for the die-hard 850 enthusiast, the T-5R watch was a limited-edition release only available to T-5R owners from dealerships in Japan. That means that any found in the states have been sourced from overseas. It’s not the most stylish watch, but it’s sure to catch plenty of attention at Volvo enthusiast events and can be a fun collectible if you are a current T-5R owner.
850 T-5R Sunglasses

Arguably the T-5R holy grail, Volvo’s CEO Fred Andersson sent a pair of Ray Bans with “T-5R” engraved in gold into one of the glass lenses to each T-5R owner in Sweden. Along with the sunglasses, he sent the (translated) note below:
“As you have carefully noted, your 850 T-5R is only available in a very limited number. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate - You have a unique car.”
“The T-5R has cheers of praise from motoring journalists all over the world, and we at Volvo are very proud. I also hope you are happy with the car. Contact me or your Volvo dealer and tell me what you think.”
Seeing as they are such a rare collector's item, these sunglasses can be found at a premium. IF you can find them. Per volvo850t-5r.com, there was a set that sold for nearly $1,000 back in 2016. Given recent inflation, there’s no telling what a set might go for now.
P80 Öhlins
To the average enthusiast, Volvo’s don’t appear to be track cars, so why would there be track-spec options for them? Although they aren’t coilovers, Volvo did offer factory Ohlins dampers for the front and rear. With external reservoirs, this suspension upgrade is meant to improve handling predictability and longevity thanks to heat dispersion. This upgrade is incredibly rare, and won’t be had cheap, especially if they need to be rebuilt.
P2 Wagon Fold Out Table
Not nearly as rare as the P80 parts, but still a rare, fun accessory for any P2 wagon owner that truly uses their vehicle is the rear-mounted picnic table. Whether it’s used for partying at tailgates or on a relaxing date, this table screams versatility, just like your Volvo wagon. You can still occasionally find these pop up for sale on the classified pages for a couple hundred dollars.
P2 Wagon Cooler
A rarer, but certainly ‘cooler’ (I get it, bad dad-joke) accessory is the OEM cooler that can be added to 40/20/40 rear wagon seats. This is the ultimate accessory to turn your dad-wagon into.... well, just that. But in all seriousness, having a built-in cooler and picnic table is the last steps needed to turn your XC70 into the ultimate camping machine.
P1 DRIVe Spoiler
While the rest of these accessories are NLA and only available through private party sales, this NLA item can still be had in nearly-new condition via our store. The C30 DRIVe spoiler is a European C30 accessory that only came on the fuel-efficient DRIVe models. The DRIVe spoiler is a more aggressive replacement to the normal R-Design spoiler.
Every day, more and more Volvo parts get discontinued, including highly desirable ones. The P2 sport kit and P3 carbon fiber mirror caps are great examples of that. So, if you notice something you're interested in, don't wait, or it might just be too late!
