How The Polestar 2 Should Have Come From The Factory

Earlier this month, Polestar arrived at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a racing event held in the United Kingdom, with a surprise for many. There to take on the record for fastest EV was the Polestar 2.

At first glance, I don’t perceive the stock Polestar 2 to be an athletic car. Sure, EV’s are quick and will smoke any normal consumer car off the line. But I personally relate the design much more closely to an upscale, family-sized commuter car. Which it is.

But the package that Polestar brought with the Polestar 2 to the Goodwood Festival of Speed is one that may not only inspire future Polestar 2 owners to modify their vehicle, but encourage Polestar to create a separate performance trim level. Yes, they have the Performance Pack already, but imagine a Performance Plus Pack, with the widened stance, lowered suspension, and upgraded power output found on the Goodwood model.

To be specific, the Polestar 2 found at Goodwood had 476 horsepower (68 more than stock), 10mm wider stance, 30mm lower chassis height from the upgraded springs and shocks, Polestar 1 front brakes, and a carbon fiber strut brace.

I would personally be surprised to see such an offering, considering the relative difficulty to get your hands on a 2. Like the V90, it’s only offered as special order, and we all know what happened to the V90.

Fortunately, it’s not difficult to achieve most of the modifications made by Polestar. As ownership numbers grow, so does the aftermarket. Heico has developed coilovers specifically for the Polestar 2, and H&R spacers are in plentiful amounts. If you own one of these beautiful, revolutionary cars and are interested in modifying it, please check out our site or shoot us an email and we would be happy to help!
